Violin Workshops - 'Violin Fundamentals'

My half-day Violin 'Fundamentals' Workshop gives you the best possible start in learning how to play the violin. It's suitable for both total beginners and also as a 'refresher' for more experienced students who are coming back to the violin after some time away. You don't even need a violin to get started!

New! Workshops now available first Saturday morning
of every month!

Violin Lessons LondonINTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP
Fee: £79 per half-day

Learn to play the violin in just 3 hours at my Introductory 'Fundmentals' Workshop! A great 'quick-start' for beginners, OR a refresher for advanced violinists. Takes place the first Saturday of each month (except August).

Sample Course Programme

9.30am - Welcome: Tea, Coffee, and Biscuits (plenty of biscuits - we like biscuits.) Meet Simon and your fellow students, get acquainted with each other, prepare your violin (or viola) for the class.

10am - Warm up session: The Body, Breathing, How to Hold the Violin & Bow, Building a Checklist

11am - The Basic Principles: Rhythm, Notes & Sound. Good Rhythm, correct Notes and beautiful Sound - plus physical freedom and ease - are the core building blocks of good violin playing. Once you get these concepts, you're on the road to success.

Jam Cream Biscuit12pm - Break: An opportunity for: 1) more Tea & Biscuits (mmmmm... biscuits!), 2) time to practice anything you found challenging from the first two hours, and 3) asking Simon questions about anything covered so far.

12.30pm - How To Practice: Tragically overlooked by many teachers, the art of How To Practice is an essential skill for violin playing success, and one that you should master from your first day as a violinist. This hour explores the most effective techniques for achieving great results, fast - and forever.

1.30pm - End Time to leave! But if you are at this point completely thrilled about playing violin (and be warned - that's quite likely!), you'll have plenty of time to ask questions afterwards, or you can even stay on and attend the afternoon class!
