Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need my own violin?
A: Yes, but if you don't have one, then we can supply one for you. If you're attending the 'Violin Fundamentals' Workshop, you can borrow a violin for the workshop at no extra charge - but be sure to request this in advance when you're booking your place!

If you enjoy the workshop, you can buy the violin outright from us, regardless of whether you take further tuition or not.

Q: Do I need to read music?
A: No, not for the introductory workshops. If you join the group classes, then we will start simple note reading after 2 or 3 weeks. Just let me know if you haven't read music before and I'll make sure I include simple instructions in the class. It's really easy to pick up, so don't worry about it.

Q: Can my child and I learn violin together?
A: Yes - especially with private tuition. I don't know why more people don't do this. I encourage all parents to learn violin at the same time as their children -- learning together is a very special experience, and will help you both stay motivated and excited about your learning.
